From machine learning to deep learning in IoT with blockchain technology
Artificial intelligence has been expanding across several areas of our daily lives by getting embedded into billions of smart objects or IoT devices. Given the resource constraints and limited connectivity of IoT devices, so far, we have only managed to integrate a small set of pre-defined functions into these objects. That is only a fraction of machine learning techniques, which is a small subset of AI. Deep learning, on the other hand, is the backbone of many AI technologies that enables machines to mimic human perception of events and their environment through Artificial Neural Networks. For IoT devices to truly simulate human intelligence, not only do they need to implement neural networks, but they also need to take advantage of their distributed resources collectively. Blockchain can act as one of the underlying enablers for tracking data transactions and bringing together the vast amount of distributed resources. In this round table/talk, we will discuss the desires and requirements for making the journey from machine learning to deep learning. We will also discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating blockchain into IoT networks.
