Designing the future of e-commerce
We are living in a time of hurried change which is having a radical impact on how we experience and design for e-commerce. Before, we would design static web pages that served static predefined content. All those web pages looked the same for everyone who visited them, with the same sofas. Every time. But social platforms, APIs, different integrations, partnerships, and mobile technologies create a breeding ground for personalized experiences in the future. Designing static web pages is already a dying profession. Creating those personalized experiences is a hard and challenging task because it involves designing experiences that look and act differently for every single person. I’ll be addressing some actual steps on how to serve personalized content, using real-life examples from Overstock.com.
