Designing for empathy
“I used to think that top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that 30 years of good science could address these problems. I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy. To deal with these we need a cultural and psychological transformation.” - Gus Speth, Chair of the United Nations Development Group. Our monkey brain is ill-adapted to deal with current technological forces and therefore struggles to solve global challenges. Designing for empathy can help our collective brains move in the right direction. This is what I’ve done over the past few years and I’m looking forward to share my secrets with you. This is what you’ll learn: What psychological transformation is needed to address global challenges? How can technology support this transformation?
